Accident kills motorcyclist

A woman has been accused of operating a motor vehicle in contravention to Louisiana law at the time of a fatal collision between the vehicle she was allegedly operating, a second car and a motorcyclist. The police stated that the accident occurred at 11:20 a.m. on Feb. 9.

Whiplash injuries after an accident

In addition to the damage inflicted to the body of the vehicle rear-ended in a collision, such accidents also commonly cause injuries to the occupants. Perhaps the most common injury is whiplash, which also is known as a cervical sprain, cervical strain or hyperextension injury. This type of injury to the neck results when the neck suddenly moves in one direction and then moves in another direction, similar to the movement of a whip being cracked.

Drivers may be distracted and not know it

Louisiana drivers might be wondering what specifically constitutes distracted driving. Any time a person reaches to tune their radio, drops something and searches for it or checks for text messages, they are driving while distracted. Any time a motorist stops looking at the road for even a split second or removes their hands from the steering wheel, they are at risk of being involved in a car accident.
